Outdoor Electrical Installation

Outdoor Electrical Installation

Extending your living space to the great outdoors is a perfect way to enjoy nature and add value to your home. Decks, sheds, detached garages and workshops all have power requirements, that’s where accent landscape lighting is the perfect way to create the ambience you’re looking for.

Exterior lighting is an important consideration with nearly any outdoor project, and there are many options available. Motion sensor lights and flood lights are ideal for barns and workshops, but not so much for a comfy outdoor deck or poolside patio. That’s where accent landscape lighting is the perfect solution to provide the ambience you’ll want when enjoying the outdoors.

Depending on the area, there are many considerations, but when you’re installing electrical devices (lights, plugs, switches or appliances) anywhere that they might be exposed to the elements, the most important consideration is using Ground-Fault protection to keep you and your family safe. Ground-Fault protection (also known as GFCI), protects people and pets from fault current by cutting off the power when a fault occurs in that circuit.

There is something else to think about: If you’re planning a garage or workshop where more power is required, a subpanel might be the best option to provide the necessary power.

Regardless of the project, our electricians are ready and willing to assist you in making your outdoor project come to life! We can guide you through all the options and possibilities with outdoor lighting, receptacles, and power requirements.
